LPGA TOUR CAPTAINS
In 1996, the LPGA introduced the LPGA Tour Captains program, a national program
designed to link the LPGA Tour to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf. The Tour Captains program
designates one LPGA Tour player to serve as one program’s Captain, or when possible,
one LPGA Tour player may serve as Captain to several programs in a region.
The LPGA Tour Captain acts as a role model for the girls as well as a player for them to
follow throughout the year. Each Tour Captain participates in at least one annual event
with their site and does their best to interact with the site while on Tour.
The LPGA Tour Captains program is an integral component to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf. The Tour
Captain not only brings additional fund-raising opportunities, they also act as an example
to members demonstrating how hard work and dedication leads to success. In a world of few
female professional athletes, the LPGA Tour Captains program offers LPGA-USGA Girls Golf
members a unique and accessible role model.
